As much as we enjoy life at the Centre,
things can be a bit insular. A self-contained Christian community
is often subject to local misunderstanding! In recent years we
have appreciated a few opportunities to get out and about - for
us to meet people and for people to come and see what we do.
Friog
School - Assemblies and PE Lessons
This is the local school two miles away. Pete and Susie's children
have grown up there, so we enjoy a good relationship with the
teachers. One Monday a month we do the morning assembly. Pete
has run Dragon Sports - an after school sports club there for
over ten years.
We have also enjoyed 'throwing the Centre open' by hosting occasional
activity days for the pupils.
Tywyn
School - Christian Union,
Since mid 2007, Min y Don staff have been helping to run the Christian
Union at this Secondary School. This has proved another great
way to meet & encourage local young people.
Tywyn
Baptist Church
This has been the owners' home church for many years
Min y Don staff
are involved with the Youth Groups and Music Group.
JFC
This is the group for 8-11 yr olds, held on a Friday night.
OYES
This is the group for 11-16 yr olds, held on a Friday night.
The Thursday Thing
A spin-off from OYES, this group was set up for the older
members, wanting to spend time getting to know each other and
God, as well as having fun!
Sunday Schools
There are Sunday School classes for three age groups.
Many
Min y Don staff either run, or assist with these.
Music Group
Many staff enjoy playing in the band, practising on a Thursday
and playing on either or both Sunday services.
For the last
two years, Min y Don has hosted a Family Fun Day for Tywyn Church.
We usually also run an annual evening service there as a team.
More about
what we are involved in can be found on the website of Tywyn
Baptist Church.
